Content…Huge Opportunity

I’ve been saying it for over a year now, but it’s more and more true by the day… content is a massive opportunity in Zimbabwe. The internet has seen incredible growth in the last 2 years, and social media (Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, Google Plus) is dominating the way we spend time online.

What are all these people doing on Facebook?

Looking to connect to people (even brands) that have the content they’re attracted to. Unique, interesting, useful content that’s relevant. be the one providing this content to your market, and you start to develop a community of people around you – Fans and friends whose recommendations and referrals (or lack of) will soon mean the difference between success and failure for many businesses in Zimbabwe.

A lot of people talk about how Zimbabwe has great opportunities, “we should position ourselves for what’s coming”. Most people saying that have no idea what they’re talking about or how to position themselves. I’ve just told you how.

Content.

Start a blog, a brand page, a fan page – something, and sell as little as possible. Instead use it to deliver high quality, relevant content to your community.

  1. Great article Max. You have seen how I do it. If you scroll through my profile on Facebook and Twitter or Linkedin from 2007 when I became an active user, you will see that I want to sell content, I give it away and then repackage it into books and ebooks. I blog as well. No matter how busy, I try to keep my blog up to date as much as possible. The results have been incredible. Indeed such information you are sharing is crucial to create success in those who dare to read and implement. Well done sir.

  3. I have been going by that advice for a while now, created a website and am building a targetted community. It’s not business in the usual sense of the word, more social entrepreneurship oriented. Zimbabweans have been so slow to catch up, although my membership is growing. kindly visit the page and recommend marketing strategies. I have a free e-book, a facebook page and have done e-mail campaigns. I am trying flyers next. What do YOU offer. Growth has been slow but sure. BTW, I joined Google plus like you recommended. When that wave comes, I will be an early adopter as well. Thanks!
