Greatness Career Conference Was Great, play your part!

Was invited to speak on Marketing (Personal Branding) at the recent Greatness Career Guidance Conference which is probably the biggest one of its kind n Zimbabwe to date.

The idea was to expose students to top industry experts and thought leaders who could inspire and educate them on what it takes to be successful in their jobs and chosen careers.

It was a blast. Other speakers were;

Hon Minister of Education – Hon Senator David Coltart,
Minister of youth and Indiginazation Saviour Kasukuwere, Pastor Tom Deuschle, Dr T Makoni, Dr Peter Raeth, Mellany Msengezi-Mariri of Econet Wireless, Thoko Mangunda, Ned Nedziwe, Gabriel Chipara, Dr Ruth Walkup, Evan Mawarire, Stanley Mutoya, myself Max Soutter and worthy of special mention, Rabison Shumba who together with his team from Greatness Trust, organized the whole event.

If i went into any detail on these people’s biographies – their accomplishments, qualifications and various contributions, we’d be here all day, so I won’t.What I will say that i was inspired by them all, and delighted to share the stage with them.

In thinking about how we can ensure a better Zimbabwe for today and tomorrow, we have to mentor the next generation. All of us who have achieved success to any degree are the result of the hard work and selflessness of others – there’s no such thing as a truly self-made man.

Thing is though, to make a difference, you don’t to be a top industry expert with a following of thousands or have multiple degrees and businesses like the people above. All you really have to do is care enough about meeting a certain need and opportunity will find you.  There is no greatness until you serve at the level you’re at today – no matter where that is.

Don’t focus yourself on the idea of being rich and famous – instead flood your heart and mind with ideas on how you can help others to be great. Therein lies your own greatness – the kind that lasts.

Thanks again to Greatness Trust for this awesome (now annual) initiative, for bringing us all together and reaching over 1500 Form 4 and Upper 6 students.

  1. Max,
    Thank you for taking time to share your expertise and experience with the next generation. I agree with, there is no better time to do so than now. If the present generation does not take time to pass on knowledge and values, who will? Its time we put our differences aside and shape the Zimbabwe we want our grandchildren to enjoy. So to you and other speakers I am extremely thankful for your efforts and input.
    We will take this to the country side. Noone will be left out.
